What is NUANS?
NUANS is an acronym for Newly Upgrade Automated Names Search. The NUANS system is maintained and provided by the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
As its name suggests, NUANS is an automated names search database provided by the Canadian federal government. It is meant to assist in the process of incorporation by providing a pre-incorporation method of determining whether the intended name of a company may infringe on the trademark of another already existing corporation.
A NUANS search is not required if you are registered as a numbered company.
